Holidays and Christmasing

Holiday gathering at the Watson's. Goofy youngsters and oldsters. Lots o' fun!

Later, I was gettin' the lights from the attic and poof! They came down, just not the way I wanted.

be merry, be good, be jolly

Jenny and I went Christmasing at CiCi's Touch of Nature on Vickery. LOTS of holiday decorating ideas! Jenny will need it as she is sponsering an open house for the local high school. We wish her luck

Thanking

Time spent with the Shannon family for turkey day! Henry is SO thankful!

Log Cabin Style

This is my first attempt at Log Cabin knitting:

I am loving how it's turning out!

There are only two rules:
*work each section clockwise
*use whatever yarn you have (stash-busters!) & use it all
(notice extra large section of moss green in middle)
yummy!

Sunglasses and Sundry Snapshots

I love this guy!

*Yippee*!
I got my xmas present early.
Fancy-schmancy Oakely replacements!
I misplaced my old ones (shocker)

however, I'd had them for years and years so I don't feel so bad.
Who knows, I might find them yet amongst the piles of laundry...

Gary's been playing with the camera again:
tufted titmouse
carolina chickadee

He's got lots o' creativity & patience finding birds in
our backyard paradise!

Blonde Alert*

I took 64 photos of children and families at Thanksgiving Lunch at Henry's school Monday. Some pressure as people actually paid for these! I worked for about 2.5 hours until everyone was gone. A friend asks how Henry's picture turned out. ..... what?

Yes, I had forgotten my own son's picture! So, this said friend of mine insisted that, yet, again, I was really a blonde who died her hair brown (with gray highlights).

So, here is the pic I snapped as soon as school let out. It was Monday, so Gary was home.

Does it count that there are no pumpkins or scarecrows in the background?

*sorry Sandra

I'm So Vain

(Which picture do you like better?)

Henry definitely has talent. Look at these pictures of ME! I think I look great. Well, maybe not great... but, darn-it, what a great photographer Henry is!

Now, I don't know if this counts or not, but part of this next image was originated by me. Part of it was originated by Lindsey!

She is pretty-in-pink!

Gary's an Artist

I was going through Henry's school-work papers from last year. You know, trying to decide what to save to put in his 4th grade book and what to toss, when I found this great oil pastel drawn by Gary (I would know his style anywhere...)!

Obviously, it is a picture of two bikers (sorry, bicyclists) on their road bikes. The one in front is looking at the one in the back. Perhaps he is giving the latter inspiration to continue, perhaps he is taunting him. We, unfortunately, may never know as the artist refuses to answer any questions regarding his art.

Now here is another question. Why was this piece found amongst Henry's school-work? Again, we may never know.

RAKS RAWKS!

RAKS (aka Random Acts of Kindness) is a swap I have just finished. Everyone who joined made something fun and placed in a public place for anyone to pick up. Hopefully, whoever picked up the handmade object was impressed and it made them happy!!

I made three little coin purses out of wool, felted them, then added beads. Here is one I left at my college. The note says:

This little purse is yours to keep. It's quite alright, take a peek! It was made just for you, Go ahead and take it, it's the right thing to do!

I went back later and it was gone. Success!

These little purses were so much fun, I'm going to make more for friends/family. So.... guess what you will receive for Christmas and birthday presents!?

Halloween II

I don't know what ya'll do on Halloween, but Gary and Henry like to burn leaves, grass, etc. with a magnifying lens.

We carve and EAT pumpkins.

We also do normal things like knit. That's me knitting on my super cool $25 garage sale glider!

Oh, and no Halloween is ever complete without a black cat. That's Biscuit, the cat. The wonderful, wonderful cat.

Halloween 2008

Halloween at the house. Lots of spooky things going on- including me with my camera.
