My Beatles Break

I'm working on our taxes and needed a break. As ya'll know, I am completely obsessed with myself and wanted to know what all the rage was during the year I was born (1964). Yep, I already knew and wanted to be su
re. "I Want to Hold Your Hand" is Billboard's #1.

Playlist h
as gracious supplied this song but held out on the following: "In My Life" and "The Word" from Rubber Soul that I have been dying to hear. Gary (AKA mr-beatles-know-it-all) has all the Beatle CDs at the shop and I'm not about to break out the original vinyl. I am currently looking to replace Playlist and as of yet have not been happy with Songza, Pandora or Foxy-Tunes. Any recommendations?

FYI: Rubber Soul was in the 10 top for it's 17th week in 1966:
I was but a wee lass!

Earth Hour 2009

We participated! Although, we were 15 minutes late since I forgot (shocker). Henry had his friend Ethan over and we asked the boys to turn off the TV while I lit lots of candles. It was really fun sitting around talking. Each person had a turn in asking a common question followed by others' answers. We discussed favorite colors (red to dark-cloud grey), favorite pies (still-warm cherry pie to pecan with the ooey-gooey center), favorite element (fire, water, rock), how far is up (very confusing question), etc. etc.
We followed up Earth Hour by a 10pm trip to get Frosty's (uh, burgers/fries too, they are growing boys!). Then we ended up the evening with a perfect planetarium presentation by Ethan. They are still up. It's 11:00pm. Gotta go!

PS: pictures to follow tomorrow!

Photo Scavenger Hunt- "TRADITION"

You have NO idea how much fun a computer and a scanner can be once you find a precious gem such as this: Mom and Dad ALWAYS made us pose for a picture on XMAS morning before we could open our presents from Santa AFTER eating Pillsbury cinnamon rolls with orange juice and pilfering our XMAS stockings.

Anyone care to take a guess as to what year this was taken?

PSH CHALLENGE

"TRADITION"
Scout Spice
"I used to make Christmas Cookies w/ my mom, sister and whoever else was there, but now for Christmases in Virginia, we have made them with my best friends."

Random Nonsense
"A family tradition of ours is to go to the festivals in Granbury, even though we have been a million times."

Opinions of a Humble(d) Sponge "Last spring break, my sister and I painted canvases for the house that I now live in. This spring break, my roommate Brittany and I decided to spend one night painting. This is what we came up with! I painted the yellow and green ones, and the yellow's my favorite...maybe I'm biased!

likes to play the guitar. He is very good.

PSH CHALLENGE: Update

"CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT"
(Sorry to leave these two out of the 1st posting)

Opinions of a Humble(d) Sponge"I realized that the most accurate photo would have to be one of the sun, particularly when it was showing off. I could not live without sunshine and seeing God's glory through its beauty. I truly do believe I am somewhat more joy-filled in the summer and spring months than the winter."

Random Nonsense

"I had 2, but chose the important one over the cute one."

Sheryl here: personally, I would love to hear comments along with the photographs; however, they are not required. And, IF I chose to choose the best photo for this category, I would have to choose one of these (sorry SS). More photos up tomorrow!

Apologies and a Raccoon

I realize there are a few of you waiting anxiously for results of my Photo Scavenger Hunt; however, something more interesting (for the moment) has occurred. Scroll DOWN for the Photo Scavenger Hunt. The raccoon that has been living in our attic for the past week has been caught!
I know, I know, pictures...
The images are insufficient to describe how really cute the little guy is. Henry and Gary were chiding me for taking flash pics cuz raccoons are 'nocturnal'. They yelled at me for every picture I took! (Gary and Henry yelled, the raccoon just looked at me).

Biscuit the cat, the wonderful, wonderful cat was present and was also yelling at me and I dare say for a very different reason.

Thanks goes out to all the great friends and
family members who helped catch the little guy, who fixed the gigantic hole in the roof that he made for us and who gave us the encouragement we needed to actually catch a raccoon!
Gary is driving the little guy out to the country as I type. I can only hope that he has an optimistic future... and will stay away from our house.

Well, I have another hope: perhaps this is the only raccoon in our attic?

Jenny Ann & Jenny Ellen

Un.writ.ten Trav.el(s)
they were recently interviewed on the OntheHomeStretch.com

Love my cheap sunglasses!

Unfortunately, I've not been able to find my xmas present. I know they are somewhere close... as I misplace things alot. However, while @ the grocery, I spied a pair of sunglasses that someone else had decided at the last minute not to purchase (they were on the candy-bars). I picked them up and put them on and voila...
impulse buy of the year!
$6 Hannah Montannah sunglasses that FIT me!
(I have the most trouble finding ANY grown-up glasses that don't fall off my face).

EDIT: Photographic Scavenger Hunt

In order to accommodate all interested parties, I have changed the stipulations on submissions being strictly photographs. IF you really don't have access to a camera or don't have a cell camera, you may draw/paint/construct pictures out of any medium you have at your disposal and snail-mail to me for scanning.

EDIT: take actual photographs w/ your camera or cell phone. make it easy, quick, pain-free- FUN!
take your time,
LOOK around. find it, snap it, send it!

here's the deal.
i am extremely irritated with all of the slackers around here.
i have a CHALLENGE!
here are the names of the photographs i want by next friday nite:

"REFLECTION"
"CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT"
"TRADITION"
"A BRIDGE"

that's four (4) pictures submitted to me, bicyclerepairman via email, snailmail, blogspot, etc.
i will accept them until midnight. after that, you are a loser.
you may submit them as 'anonymous' for those of you who do not subscribe but want to participate

this is an exercise for the right side of your brain yet it is extremely easy.

i hosted this scavenger hunt last august for another group and will be providing my photos submitted along with your submissions on the monday following the friday deadline.

Biscuit & Bob

What's New PussyCat?

OK. It is confession time. I am really into mashups.
You mustn't judge me too harshly.
It is just me- right now.
I found a particularly amusing one that involved Britney Spears vs. Metallica.
Realize.
I don't care for either - on it's own.
Put together. Interesting!
This is, in no way, the best one I've found. It is simply for illustration.

A Beating

update: yes, i am aware of the pixel dimension faux pas; sorry
The
yearbook is beating me down. Down-loading hundreds of pics: 10 at a time. AND the pixels have to be a certain dimension. AND the name of the file can't be longer than 12 characters (whoops, letters). The best thing about all this is the drivel that will be written about me in the cheers/jeers section of the local paper. Huzzah! (actually, I am looking forward to the pelting...)
