Friday Fun
"Master of Gravity"
I stumbled across some of Bas Jan Ader's work this morning that I really enjoyed. Had to post. He was a Dutch artist/filmaker whose work captures isolated incidences of the grace of the invisible force which keeps us grounded. Thinking of the young artists/filmakers in my life!

ZERO!
I currently have an 88 in my math class and, as a result, need to partake in the extra credit problem the funny prof assigned. The extra credit problem is to show proof that the factorial of 0 is equal to 1. Wanna see?

Sisters

Yeah for me! I rec'd an unexpected package in the mail yesterday! So unexpected that I forgot about it til now (it's been on the front porch all nite waiting for me). The box is from Sandra who filled it with lots of goodies: two skeins of "tangy clay" yarn, 1 skein of a beautiful green yarn, some errant, roving wool, a XMAS ornament from Mt. Vernon, a XMAS ornament from George Washington memorial, 2 homemade CD mixes (from her SWAP-BOT partner that she has nothing in common with so she dumped them on me*), a "wrecking journal" (my first and I'm so excited!), some "ZOTZ" candy and something strange in a plastic baggie that is... well, it is gooey and oozing out of the bag onto my hands...
Well, anyway, I am hopping and clapping since I had a rather hectic day yesterday. Now I am set!
THANKS SANDRA!
*actually, I am looking forward to the mix CD since I love music! I was just picking on her cuz that's what I do.

Yearbook Madness
Edit: I had two mothers who volunteered to help at the beginning of the school year. They have both deserted me. You know me, can you blame them?
Most of you know I am compiling the yearbook for the spawn's school. It is intensely time consuming since I have taken all pictures, hunted people down, threatened others, judged competing artwork for covers and harassed unknown staff for input of any kind. Now I am sorting/uploading hundreds of pictures/ quotes into some orderly/artistic fashion that will prove to make 500 + kids + their parents/teachers happy.
No, there is no stress on me.
Also I was promised some $1000 in advertising revenue which has gone kaput. As a result the yearbooks will cost the kids a few dollars more than I had wanted. Again, I am not stressed at all considering that the March5th deadline is just a couple of weeks away and I have 84 pages to fill, edit, proof, edit and sign off on.

Accident Victim

A bit of ephemera made it's way back to me after a 10 year absence. Sandra has had this in her most-safe possession for many years (why?). It is the picture of ME on the front page of the Fort Worth Startle-Gram in 1980 (?). Don't ask too much about this for I have yet to remember the event. I only know what was told to me but it did have to do with a peanut-butter & jelly sammich.
Thankfully, Lily didn't have the most-unpleasant experience of her head going thru the windshield which still has me pulling tiny shards of glass out of my forehead to this day and one knee that is still numb.
The good news is that I still have a bit of nostalgia preserved by the ever-helpful FWST. (I remember mom calling them and giving them a little bit of "what-for" for embarrassing a teenage girl by putting a traumatic pic of her on the front page). However, I do remember flowers, cards, and visits from cute boys! :)

I'm Still Old
Update:IF you want the joke, you have to Skype me. You know what to do...Haha. Yes, to prove that I am indeed the oldest student in class....
*I am the only student that laughs to my elderly professor's jokes. Laughs aloud. Laughs aloud very loud. Real embarrassing loud. So loud, that I look around and see only blank faces staring at me. SO loud, in fact, that I have to explain the joke....
oh, the humiliation

Found this awesome avatar on Eagle. Notice the smile on Grandpa Watson (MY grandpa). Yes, it's there. Look again. See it now?
Me either.
Actually, this is his smile. You had to have known him to know. He was a way cool guy. He liked watches, tools, cats, guns, hats, cars .... kinda like the grandpa on the right! Like father....
